I HAVE HAD ENOUGH Actually I had enough a long time ago but I came to a conclusion last weekend when I was hiking in Escalante National Monument with my wife, Laila, and Arlo. Living in the mountains around Escalante for a few days has always had a powerful impact on me. It has ever sense the first time I visited the area when I was 17 years old. By the way thank you Farrands for introducing me to this amazing place. From the first time I saw Escalante, it was a part of me. Escalante has help me center myself on many occasions and this magical place did not disappoint this last weekend either. So, what have I had enough of? Can anyone guess? Lets see..... You are all right, President Trump. Since this is the first time I have called him president and I refuse to ever call him president again, I should come up with another name. Cheeto has been my name for him since the election. But it is kind of simple. Orange Menace has a nice ring to it. Racist, lying, piece of shit who...

Hi All, It has been awhile since I last wrote. I had to rush off to Michigan for a family emergency. I am very happy to be home. I missed my wife, Laila, Pico, and the sun. Back to Spain. After we left Barcelona we headed to the Monastery at Montserrat. Even though we enjoyed Barcelona, it was very nice to get back to small towns and out of the hustle of Barcelona. I guess we are not city folks. The mountain range sticks out of the flatlands like a behemoth. One of the things I found fascinating was the whole range is made up of conglomerate rock. Conglomerate rock are smaller stones cemented together. It can look like a dry stream bed on its side. As you can see in this next picture there is everything from hand and fist size rocks. You can also tell from this picture there is climbing. The Monastery itself was tucked back in the mountain about 10km up a narrow, winding road. We had a small car and were almost run off the road a couple of times by giant tour buses. There is no way the...

Hi All, Diving into the blogging world again. I hope everyone is doing well. This first post is going to be our first few days in Spain. I wanted to go into a little more depth then Facebook really allows. Some of the photos will be repeats but there will be more detailed descriptions and more photos. I hope you enjoy. We arrived in Barcelona at about 9am. That would be 12 midnight in Arizona. We had 17 hours of travel time. Since we did not get much sleep on the plane we had been awake for about 24 hours by the time we got into the city. We decided to just stay up as long as we could for the day and go to bed, hopefully waking up the next morning somewhat like normal. After a few snafus with the car rental, (I do not even want to relive this, so I will not share it here) not finding parking, and not finding our host Daniel for a while, we decided to forgo the sightseeing we had planned and just walk to a tapas place Daniel recommended. By the way Daniel was an amazing guy, he missed s...
